Openings - Trustee Positions
About the City of Fairfax Theatre Company
For the past eleven years, the City of Fairfax Theatre Company has provided theatre programming that enriches, educates and connects our community by producing shows and educational opportunities for all ages. Our recent seasons have received rave reviews for our productions, including 12 WATCH nominations in our first year for our 2019 productions of Beauty and the Beast and The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, including wins for Outstanding Scenic Design and the Lena Hall Award for Oustanding Ensemble.
Since reorganizing in 2013, we have seen growth in the number of shows produced, revenue from ticket sales and donations, and sold-out educational opportunities like our summer drama camps.
Currently, CFTC is looking for passionate individuals who are committed to the performing arts in Northern Virginia to join our Board of Trustees in 2021, as we take on new and creative challenges to expand and improve our work!
About the Trustees
The volunteer Trustees support the work of the City of Fairfax Theatre Company and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance for the Theatre Company. While many day-to-day operations are led by CFTC’s Artistic Director, Producing Director and Administrative Assistant, the Board-Artistic Director relationship is a partnership, and the involvement and support of the Trustees is critical, with weekly obligations around communications and/or face-to-face meetings. This is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about performing arts in the Northern Virginia area and seek a leading role in crafting an expanding reach for local arts.
Our existing Board is seeking to add the following specific roles:
Producing Director, ex-officio
Support the Artistic Director in the development and execution of each season’s catalog; responsible for overseeing the staffing and production requirements for each performance or event; maintain relationships in the community and enhance CFTC’s artistic team strength. Create relationships to improve inventory, equipment, rentals and venues. Contact us!
Director of Grant Writing
The Director of Grant Writing is primarily responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and management of an aggressive grant submission calendar, including the coordination of interdepartmental communications to draft applications and reports, as well as an ongoing grants research campaign and identification of government grants and contracts for services program. This position will also be responsible for some grant and report writing as appropriate. Reports to the Fundraising Chair. Contact us!
Capital Campaign Director
Grounded in CFTC’s mission and vision, the Capital Campaign Director will utilize their past experience and current vision to work collaboratively with CFTC’s board of directors, staff, and community members to develop and implement CFTC’s campaign to find a permanent home. The Capital Campaign Director will report to the Finance Chair. Contact us!
