WHAT TO PREPARE

We want to see your personality and sense of play
shine. Please prepare a monologue or sonnet from Shakespeare. Memorize it. Play with it. Turn the character choices up to 11. We’d love to ask you to rein it in and not the other way around. Also, please don’t feel bound by “type” or gender or whatever. This is the time to play!

Want to play Macbeth like a surfer dude? Want to play Olivia like a bored Dairy Queen waitress in Texas? Want to play Henry the V as if he’s deeply insecure and trying to convince himself to go into battle?
By all means!

If you want to be considered for a part that includes singing/music, please be prepared to showcase those skills in whatever way you feel best. A cappella singing is great. Drumming on the floor is fine. Or feel free to bring a guitar, etc!

Not sure where to look for a monologue?
This website does a good job at summarizing context and content of monologues!

Please be ready to supply a list of schedule conflicts for the dates listed above.

Resumes, headshots not necessary, but welcome. We’ll have a form that asks about specific skills and experiences.

Casting Notes:

  • We are committed to open and inclusive casting of actors of diverse ages, races, ethnicities, genders, body types, and abilities.
  • Due to the topics of misogyny and gender politics in the text, we are casting many roles to be played as a specific gender. We WELCOME AND CRAVE trans and nonbinary performers. We would love to hear preferences for portraying certain genders. We don’t want to make any assumptions.
  • Must be 18+ for any roles requiring onstage intimacy.
  • We will be working with trained intimacy and fight choreographers to build choreography that is both compelling and sustainable within your boundaries and the story we want to tell together. We can answer questions at auditions about what specific roles might require.

Please see the CHARACTER BREAKDOWN document for descriptions of roles available and role requirements.
