Since 2009, we have been dedicated to generating live performing arts experiences by and for our community.

About CFTC

Intergenerational Theatre

A hallmark of CFTC productions is the opportunity for many generations to appear onstage together. Participating in theatre together helps to bridge generational gaps and encourage community building.

Our Productions

Our season includes main stage performances, as well as a vibrant summer drama camp for young people, plus workshops and day camps throughout the year. Check out our current season!

Spring Drama

Presented as part of Fairfax City’s Spotlight on the Arts Festival in late April/early May with a focus on adult actors. CFTC’s previous productions for this event included True West, Doubt, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Importance of Being Earnest.

Shakespeare in the City

Presented at Veterans Amphitheater in the late summer or early fall, our Shakespeare in the City series has included productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Brief Shakespeare Festival and Macbeth. Previous casts have included performers of all ages.

Summer Musical

Presented in July, the Summer Musical accommodates a large and diverse cast. Though the main cast is typically adult actors, there is a children’s ensemble that provides elementary-middle school aged children a chance to be part of a large-scale production. Past productions include Shrek the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Footloose, and Hairspray.

Holiday Production

Presented as entertainment for the whole family, the cast of our Holiday Production typically consists of upper elementary-middle school students, with some roles for adults and teens. Past productions include The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and The Little Princess.

Theatre Camp

Spotlight Performing Camp

CFTC’s popular Performing Camp is a four-week camp committed to bringing more opportunities for experienced young actors and theatre techs. Campers audition for roles, rehearse the show throughout the four weeks, and perform the play in the final week. Led by a team of experienced CFTC counselors and staff, campers will learn every aspect of the theatre process.

Traditional Camp

At Traditional Drama camp, campers take lessons in technical theatre, improvisation, music, dance, acting, stage makeup, and stage combat. Each one-week session culminates in a performance demonstrating the skills they learn each week. With new themes for each session, kids will dive into new topics that challenge all campers, whether they attend camp for one week or the whole summer. Great for children new to drama or those who want to further develop their skills.
